I am in the process of building a router table. I am using ¾ plywood for the frame and building it by making a face frame, mainly because I want to practice making cabinets. I have the basic frame put together and have a few more pieces to cut and fit. As for now I have used pocket holes to build the case using 1-1/4” fine thread screws. Once I have the base assembled I was wondering if I should disassemble the case and then glue and screw it together or is that over kill?

I'd only take it apart only if it starts coming apart. I've used pocket screws a little, usually without glue, and I haven't noticed anything loosening up or moving around.Erik -
Glue makes it permanent. I prefer glue and screws personally, unless it is something I may have to take apart to move (house moving, small doors, etc), then I like just the pocket screws, and break it down into sections. She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. Given the likelihood of vibration from the router motor, I would probably opt for both screws and glue for the main carcass of the table. Of course, if you are using the screws for the face frame only, then vibration shouldn't be too much of an issue. That said, I have used screws only and have had no problems, but that usually was on cabinets that remained relatively stationary or did not support tools such as a router or sander.
Good luck, Steve.Comment

If you have already assembled with screws, disassembling and then re-assembling will only weaken the joint; you might as well leave it alone.
Going foward, you could use both glue and pocket screws; serves to reinforce. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

i'm with Radhak, it's not worth the trouble to disassemble, glue and reassemble.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
