    Quick and Easy finish?

I'm a finishing noob and need suggestions on a quick and easy finish to use. Making a dollhouse for my niece for Christmas. Some of it will be painted but others I wanted to put a finish on it. Those parts include walnut floor and doors and cedar roof. I have a Rockler spray gun I got a while back but never used. I'm tempted to try it out but not sure I have the time to be experimenting. Should I just stick with a wipe on and if so what?

    Thanks

Bullseye spray shellac and Deft spray acrylic both go on easily and dry very quickly. The shellac provides a warm yellow tint. The acrylic is clear.

Minwax wipe-on poly is also clear and dries in about 2-3 hours.

real easy finish is just a few coats of tung oil or even the tung oil finish (with a little varnish thrown in) from Formby's.

I've had good luck with the brush-on water-based polys; they dry fairly quickly, and you can get a couple coats on in a short time.

The acrylics and polys won't bring out the grain and chatoyance like an oil would on the walnut, but time is getting short. I've always had good results & looks with danish oil.

Another that won't enhance the wood, but is easy and quick is Deft spray laquers.dyies almost of contact.

I'm a big fan of shellac, myself. Either the spray or Bullseye in a can will work. The can is a little thick for brushing or wiping—thin it with denatured alcohol first. There's a table on the side of the can for guidance.

Dries very quickly, and additional coats stick to the previous coat with little to no prep. Easy clean-up, too.

another vote for deft spray lacquer. First time using last Saturday, got six coats sprayed in 5 hours on an oak quilt rack.

Looks good, smooth finish, no sanding between coats.
