I Need to Build a Trophy

OK, so we have discussed the lack of true woodworking discussions here lately, so I will start one.

I need to come up with a trophy. Our cub scout pack is holding a competition between dens for popcorn sales-called the Popcorn Bowl, of course.

I think I have some ideas, but would love to hear some suggestions. I am going to build it, but don't want anything too complicated--my time is limited--and my shop is filled with scout popcorn.

I am going to paint it blue and gold--normally a combination I am religiousy opposed to, but they are scout colors.

Over the top and slightly garish is fine. It's for the kids.

Several ideas come to mind but they would all would be complicated. Something like the CrackerJack sailor in a Cub Scout uniform or a bowl with plastic popcorn glued into it.

Another idea just hit me. How about a pop corn carton with the scalloped top edge like used to be served in theaters? (square and tapered) Done in blue and gold instead of the red/white they were originally.

Serves you right for rooting for the wrong college football team.

The colors used by the BSA for the cub scouts are not the same as those used
by that school up north that you hate. They are different, not by much but they
are different. Here are some links for you....

And just so you know the UofM colors are .... pms 2757 and pms 123 can't be
specific for paint but printing ink I do know.

This plaque is only 16 bucks.... easy to make wood base with 45 degree bevel or ogee or half round w/step edge and then do some computer artwork, even cheaper.

Here's an actual Golden Popcorn award trohpy with Miley Cyrus holding it.

Maybe you could do a round or square base with a plastic cup from the dollar store and some malformed styrofoam peanuts painted yellow...or crinkly yellow foil paper... The base can be made of stepped sized squares or circles stacked, use a router to put an ogee on the top layer.

These probably aren't what you're looking for, but I've made several variations of them for our dart benefit tournaments.

Uh, yeah, for the dart tournament. Was that the prize or the target?

That's what I was thinking, too. 4 sides of 1/4" hardboard glued together and attached to a base. Make a false insert near the top and fill with gold spray painted popcorn. Hot glue the popcorn into place so it looks full.
