    More Maloof dresser. Roundovers defeated!

I don't know what the fuss was all about with these roundovers. It was one
of the easiest things in this whole project.

Below is the world's simplest jig. A piece of extra melamine with a hole drilled
    in the middle.

The router with roundover bit is screwed and double sided taped to the "jig".
The melamine has to be large enough so the router can't tip. I just let the
bearing ride against the inside and route away. One of the few times I use
    the fixed base.

Nearly had a heart attack when I flicked on the router and it didn't start. A
few Fonzie taps later and I was good to go.

    All the roundovers done.

I've got a few flat spots to sand smooth.

Using a chisel and round rasp, I made the joint more Maloof-like. Still have
some more sanding to do. A bunch more corners to do. I just wiped on some
mineral spiritis to show it off a little.

Updates won't be coming as often now. I've got a bunch of sanding to do
and I've started building the drawers. Right now just milling a bunch more
    wood for the drawers.

Nicely done. Your melamine baseplate is pretty much what I thought it should be (once I abandoned the madness about rounding over prior to assembly!).

Thanks for the updates. The fine tuning of the joints really make it more visually appealing. Keep up the good work!

That looks good, and it's always a joy to find out something is easy.

Paul = genius! Great work on that, made a difficult and nerve racking task into a pleasant 15 minute job nice!

Thanks guys. I wish I could take credit for this jig but Sassafrasman on Woodnet gave me the idea. I'm just a good listener.

                  Paul:

Any chance of reviving this thread with the original pictures? For a long time I have been interested in Maloof designs in general, and his "Maloof round" in particular. I've often wondered when and how he shaped the rounds. Sound like you got it figured out.

                  Thanks.
                  John

They weren't showing for me when John first posted about them. They are now though.

Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's router. But darn, I would love to have one of those.

The work looks great, too. well done.
