That's great Bade, the time in on that project is actually really short for something that complicated! Kudos to you 8-)

After only 22 months ... I'll be darned ....
It's a mandolin!!!
Not much different to look at than most recent posts ... but to complete the commentary ... I put all the hardware on did the "setup" adjustments and strung it up tonight ... sounds good plays sweet ... I'm happy ... only 2nd "scroll" F style mandolin I have done and I can tell you it is a steep and long learning curve ... consensus is ... after about 50 you get the hang of it ... aaaaggghhhh... only 48 to go ... that would be in about 96 years !!! ... I'll be 155 years old ... oh my!!!!

Bade you nutter, may you live so long, that magnolia at the headstock alone might take me that long, LOL. Do you know if the tone changes with age like on a regular guitar? Does it get more mellow?I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

Magnolia???
It's a ROSE ... as in The Yellow Rose of Texas ...
Yes mandolins and I suspect just about any instrument made of wood do indeed change tone over time ... in fact ... there are services one can pay for that artificially 'age' the instruments sound by placing them in front of big speakers at various tones for extended periods of time to hasten the process ... others have constructed elaborate 'automatic strummers' that basically strum the strings over and over with a 'pick' <plectrum> to get a similar effect. Here is a link to Roger Siminoff's "de-damping service" that shows some pictures of how it is done and why ... => Siminoff de-damping . It really DOES make a difference."Like an old desperado, I paint the town beige ..." REK

If You Play As Well As You Build...
That is a beautiful mandolin. If you play as well as you build it will truely be wonderful to listen. I don't know how the finsish could be any more beautiful. Congratulations.Comment
