    violin stand?

I'd like to make my wife a violin stand. I've been searching the net for pictures and found some, but none yet that really seemed right. Anybody got any leads?

Thanks for the link. I've seen a number of similar stands at other sites, but I'm not yet sure I want to do something that "curvaceous." I'd like to find some designs that are a bit more rectilinear if possible, but searches haven't turned up much yet.

how about this one - looks simple
          http://www.stradviolin.com/woodviolinstand.htm

There's this but i think its's ugly and impractical, similar to the FEIN williwatt linked

I'd replace the hooks on this one with some wooden ones...

          this one's simple and elegant

          another more complex one

I played the violin for many years. Know my way around the F-hole, so to speak.

What is the purpose for this stand? All violinists I know keep their violin in its case to protect it from dust & getting drop kicked across the room. About the only reason I can think of for using a stand is during a performance if you are switching instruments. In that case, I would think function would be paramount. You would want something that would be fairly stable & secure also probably a stand that would also support the other instrument.

Well, it just goes to show I can google with the best of them . I'd seen all the suggested variations (and thanks, by the way), so maybe that's about all there is. In response to phi1l's question, it's kind of a vanity project; my wife keeps her violin in the case when not in use, yes, but when she's practicing, she occasionally needs to lay it down to do something else (change music, answer the phone, etc), and I thought it might be simpler to have a stand for those short interludes.
