Just be sure if you are cutting shells open the hazard is in the primer. Just be careful not to bang it. The other bit of wisdom, from experience in cutting open plastic shotgun shells, have the shell on a board and cut through the shell into the board. The plastic is not consistent and can give quickly. As a reloader I have disassembled hundreds of shells. Once upon a time while disassembling shells with a new Swiss Army Knife, I had six stitches installed in my thumb. Just a little lapse of judgment.

i hardly think two shotgun shells, even 12 ga would yield a pound of lead...

Loring, I'm surprised, you being in the Lone Star state and all - everything is bigger in Texas!

12 gauge shot gun shells are going to yeild from 1oz to a heavy hunting load of 1 3/8 oz.

If any one is really interested here is a good reloading and shotshell reference http://www.mecreloaders.com/document...owtoreload.pdf

They will if you get some of those 12ga. - 16" magnum shells.
.......or would that be a pound of powder?
