Almost done with this project. Still need to fab a frame&panel door for the front.
Mentioned in another thread I was going to need this table to use my raised panel bits that won't fit in my BT3 accessory table.
Made almost entirely of leftovers. Melamine top (30x24) from a sheet used for several other projects; box/housing for router from plywood sheet scraps; melamine and poplar for fence also scraps; oak edgebanding on table leftover from toybox project.
New items included:
$19 HF universal tool stand (claims a 500lb capacity)
$49 for the precut phenolic router plate (with inserts) - has a 3.5in throat, so I don't even need to lift the router/plate combo out to change bits
~$30 in T-slot and miter track for table and fence
$3 in "pool hose" for connecting router DC port to external DC (shopvac) port
$15 in electrical parts for switch/outlet box.
So all told, less that $130 in materials.
Tabletop patterned after Rockler tabletop, fence patterned on combo of Rockler fence and Norm's router table fence. Not fancy, but functional - ran some test pieces on it, and am happy with its performance so far.
Since I use my shopvac for DC, I decided to try an idea inspired by my neighbor, the furniture maker, who showed me an ad for an outlet to power both the tool and the DC. I took two single-gang boxes, mounted them back to back, put a switch in the front side and wired it to the double-outlet mounted into the back side. 20A/120V parts with 12g wiring and cord.
