Router Table Front Lip, How Big?

It seems I can either have 3/4 - 1" or ~3" of front lip. Which is preferred? How much clamping is done using the front lip?

I purchased the bench dog cast iron router table top/lift, and I'm building my own cabinet for it. The BD top has mounting holes approximately 2" from the front of the table. I can mount the table top with the front mounting holes on either side of the 3/4" face frame of the cabinet and use an angle bracket to attach it. Depending on which side of the face frame I put the mounting holes, I'll have either ~1" or ~3" of front lip. I have 1 1/2" of lip on either side. Which is better/why?

    Thanks,
    -Pak

seems to me like you want more lip for clamping... 2 or 3 inches...

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

More is better... I can't think of a single reason to have less.
