This is another reason I tend to use the router table. With one 4" port on the fence and another down below, I get near 100% collection on most cuts.
The downside is, as JimD says, the wear on the bits. That's why I always stock up on the green Woodcraft bits when they're on sale for five bucks. A new one will produce perfect results; but when the MDF ends its useful life prematurely, I can toss it into the trash with no regrets.
