Through Dovetails

Getting ready to make some through dovetails for a small box. Have never done through DT before. Question is: do I rout them just as I have when doing half blind dovetails -- meaning the left side of the jig handles certain parts of the assembly then I need to flip them over to the right side of the jig to complete them?

heavens no. Through dovetails requires two different bits, one straight, one dovetail for the cuts on the opposite halves. You'd better do some research.

Just one DT bit if you use the Incra system.

The jig should have specific instructions on procedures and bits used. you have to follow those instructions closely because they can differ from jig to jig a little, and that "little" can be plenty to really mess things up if hyou vary from what they say.
