Thinking about redoing my kitchen cabinet doors

I think I missed something here
The photo is NOT of framed cabinets it is of frame less

actually the page that pic is from has that photo as an example of framed and another as an example of frameless I have to say it looks a lot more like a frameless design, and that's also why I have it as my 'inspiration'

As for edging the doors why are you looking for veneer? Are you not going to REMAKE the doors?

no, I want to remake the doors, but I think it would look nicer if the front of the frameless box (the sides of the box) looked similar to the wood used for the doors. There are also a couple of areas where, due to the design, the frameless front is visible, and given that it's currently white it wouldn't match at all.

As for the frame less cabinets how much are you really going to show based on the photo you posted?

I am not going to show anything on the straight cabinet runs, however due to the design of the kitchen there are a few places where the frame might be seen.

If you are doing purely frame less cabinets then there almost NO need to alter the existing boxes just make new doors.

that would be the idea I want to touch the frames as little as possible.

First of all, if you have a couple pictures of your existing cabinets that would sure be handy.

I'll try to take a few tonight (assuming the kitchen is not too messy )

Are the cabinets painted?

currently as far as I can tell the cabinets are laminated with some sort of melamine-like white veneer, no chance of using the old doors at all (I suspect they are particle board underneath, or possibly mdf). The frames look like they are painted, but there might be some press-on edging on the front sides: hard to figure it out (since everything is white).

If it were me personally -- I would build new carcasses and do a complete install, that's not a suggestion -- just an observation.

heh, that would be nice, however I think it might be a bit too big of a bit to chew as a first 'big' home project... it's already big enough as-is with the doors, and given how life/work can be I'd be worried about having the kitchen unusable for periods of time (which the LOML would not like as you might imagine ).
