    "Copy" and "Past" Triangles

    Good day

Tom Finnie presented the idea to me after he saw the "45° frame cutting sled".

But I took the pictures myself…

I leave it to your imagination what you can do with it.

    Regards

great idea (who ever it was), and your illustrations, as usual, are nice and easy to follow.

If you use it for a triangle, you might take a 1-1/2 to 2" forstner and drill a hole in the middle to make it easier to handle and slide around and give you a way to hang it. If you want put a triangular hole but that's more work. Bevelling the opening will make it easy to pick it up.

I think those are the reasons why most commercial drafting triangles have the triangular opening, I think a circle will do, though.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Thanks. I have been contemplating a way to make triangles similar to that to use for putting cabinets and shelves together. I plan on cutting some flat spots so I can use it with clamps, similar to Rocklers "Clamp It".

I also plan to use it for making a crosscut sled, I have been wanting to build one of those for a long time.

For the time being I installed one on the 45° crosscut sled so I did not need any hole, I did not decide yet what to do with the others but your idea is very good.

Interestingly, I was thinking the same, but in this case I think it will be better to "copy" it to 1/2" or 3/4" plywood so it will be more rigid.

              Thanks
