    Siding is done...finally!

Actually I finished weeks sooner than I had anticipated. That is because my brother pitched in on 2 Saturdays and helped a great deal. Thank you brother.
It's hard to imagine it is the same house. Well worth the work though.

I know the feeling I had siding put on my house about 2 years ago and it sure is a good feeling not to mention the looks and no painting ever again. You gotta love that part. Congrats. Looks extremely nice.

Like Karen said, it looks a lot brighter than it did before!

Thanks everyone. We are pleased with it.
Next year I'll replace the soffits and spouting and it will be all new outside.
I also may extend the window frames to make it look even better.
Does anyone have any experience with the solid vinyl 3/4" boards? I was thinking of using those instead of capping them with aluminum.

Great job. You'll see a difference in heat and cooling cost, too. When it's time for a roof job consider metal roofing. We had it installed back in the winter and see a definite decrease in heating and cooling.

It does look like a different house. Very nice. The siding is also easy to keep clean and maintain.

Looks very nice, We have the fascia and soffett done, getting ready to do the vinyl soon. I'm only concerned about the rear of the house, as our lot slopes, and it is way up there to the eave. Good Job, Bill

Bill, mine has no grade at all from one end to the other so the eaves were easy to get at. I was considering scaffold for the far end but decided to just make a lot of trips up the ladder. If the peek had been any higher I would have gone the scaffold route. It is easier and safer.

                      Solid Vinyl Soffit Boards

                      Salty --

When we re-built our house (from the foundation up), we wanted minimal outside maintenance. In addition to the Cemet-Fiber siding, we used vinyl boards for the trim around the windows and doors. It was easy to work with and looks great. The only "gotcha" our painter ran into was the choice of paint -- after researching it, he ended up with a 2-part paint requirement to make sure that it bonded well.

After 5 years, it still looks great.

Thanks Dan. After discussing it with the better half we decided that the extra cost of framing over them would be a waste since noone but us would really notice. They already have aluminum clading over the wood frames from when they replaced the windows with vinyl sliders. It just looked odd to me because the j-channel protruded out past the window trim.
I decided that even if I put another aluminum cap on them I would still have to put wood on first and that would increase the cost to about what the solid vinyl would be.
Besides, I still have the garage to side, soffits and downspouting to replace and the deck needs rebuilt. I'll work on those first.
