Rabbets and dados are what I like doing too. It will also help when you start doing the glue up. I find that those types of joints make alignment and squareness during assembly easier. (provided that you made square cuts )

That sounds like a good caution that I will keep in mind. These will be my first cabinets.

With a Shed (Oz for Shop ), "full" of MDF cabinets/drawers etc. - rabbets and dados are the way to go

Titebond II and nails/brads to hold everything together while the glue cures.

Nothing has fallen apart after 15 years! For example - stacking drawers...
