not that I know of.
There's a radical new idea called the internet - you can buy stuff and they'll mail it to you for a lot less than the time and gas to go to a brick and mortar store. If you feel bad about spending 5 bucks S&H then treat yourself to a fe more items to make the S&H worthwhile.

In-ter-net???? Is that the inner lining they are putting in swim trunks?
Yeah, I found them online, but that $6 in shipping is what had me looking elsewhere. I probably made it sound like I would be driving real far to get to a Woodcraft or Rockler, but in reality it is only about 20 minutes away. Thanks for the info
A general shopping tip that may prove useful to some: any time you're ordering stuff online, check to see where the shipping rate "sweet spots" are; i.e., $5.95 for orders up to $25, $7.95 up to $50, $9.95 up to $75, etc. When your subtotal is getting close to one of these points, fill out your order with inexpensive items (such as the figure eights being discussed here) you might not necessarily need TODAY but you know you will surely need SOMEDAY.
This approach accomplishes three things. First, it effectively makes the shipping free for the small stuff. Second, it's a good way to build up your personal inventory so you'll be more likely to have what you need, when you need it, instead of having to make a special trip or order. Third, it spreads out the cost of this little but vital stuff so that you barely even notice you had to pay for it.
Another thing, IF Home Depot or Lowe's sold them, they would likely be ridiculously expensive. I needed some T-nuts (not Jeff's type for the BT3K, just regular T-nuts), and didn't have time to wait to have them shipped. BORG charged something like $2.00 a piece...had them individually packaged in the "specialty hardware" section.
Even Rockler will sell you 8 for less than $2.00!
Does the BORG or Lowes sell the figure 8 table top fasteners? Or do I need to make the long trip to Rockler or Woodcraft? What about hardware stores?
Thanks
If you want to avoid the S&H charges, you can make your own table
top fasteners out of wood and screws. They are called wood buttons
and have been around longer than figure 8s. I'm assuming your table
has aprons. You cut a 1/4" slot in the apron maybe 1/4" from the
bottom of the top. The buttons are 1" wooden blocks with a 1/4"
tongue that extends into the slot you cut into the apron. You screw
through the button into the top to fasten. Some people use a
biscuit jointer to cut the slots in the apron and size their buttons
accordingly.

I was thinking of suggesting that very thing when i made my reply. That'll surely work.
