    More issues with Craftsman 315-228110

I am still working on getting my Craftsman in working order. Received the blade guard and miter gauge. While installing blade guard I noticed the riving knife was not aligned with the blade and the blade was very close to a fixed piece of metal under the table. Sorry I do not know what the correct term would be. But anyway;, in taking things apart again and trying to understand how it is all put together, I wondered about moving the blade by way of more shims (washers). While looking thru the manual, I found instructions on adjusting the riving knife and the shims where you attach the blade guard. So, I will try that but am still wondering about moving the blade. When I take the nut off and the blade is loose, I moved it over to align with the riving knife (to the left) and the number of threads on the shaft did not seem like enough.

I would like to use this saw for dado cuts but the spacing where the blade mounts to the shaft does not seem to be wide enough. The sawdust collection tub under and around the blade in too close.

So I will continue learning about this saw thru the manual and hands on assembly/disassembly. I will try to upload a picture I took also.

    Thanks in advance

For use with DADO blades, there is a 1/4" and 1/2" spacer to the right of the right hand blade washer that are removed. The dado blade (stack kind) should all sit on the straight part of the arbor and not the threads of the arbor. How much is removed depends on the width of the dado stack.

I suggest you read the BT3 FAQ on the subject of DADO blades, it has the sum of all my knowledge and experience with them.

Oh, Geez, looking at your picture some one has lost all your blade spacers and replace them with some crappy washers. The blade spacers coming with the BT3s are carefully machined, very precise flat spacers. this sets the blade in the right place vis a vis the splitter and riving knife.
The standard stack of special blade washers is 3/4".

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Thank you again for your valuable help and suggestions. I will try to find the correct arbor parts. The ones on Ebay were all sold out.

BTW the Craftsman 315-228110 is a BT3000.3100 under the C'man label.
You should put these under BT3x Discussions

Other table saws are for like anything but a BT3000 clone.

ereplacementparts.com has those two spacers, about 5 bucks each, in stock, one of one and 6 of the other.
