    Pool table slate

I was recently given parts to a pool table, including the 3 piece slate. One section is going into storage until I can build an assembly table. I figure that has to be as near a perfect flat surface as you will find for the top.

I am thinking of incorporating the other 2 as part of a pathway but thought I would offer them to anyone local that wants to use them for an assembly table/workbench top. Obviously not practical to ship.

never thought of that - the sections would be 2'8" x 4' for a regulation 4x8 pool table, slightly less for a home-style 7'x 3.5' you sometimes find for space-challenged rooms.

Might be a bit brittle, think twice about pounding upon it. Maybe a sheet of hardboard over it will protect it from sharp high impacts that might cause it to crack.

The hardboard is a good idea.

I'd love to take you up on the offer of a piece, but I don't have the room for an assembly table. I made a sharpening/sander cart for my hitachi sander and worksharp a couple weeks ago and it's really getting in the way now.

I know you've got similar space issues as I do. Where are you going to put a 30x48 assembly table?

What about making a pool table? I'll be happy to store it in my basement until you have room for it/

I have a 24x26 steel building, just need the $$ to pour the slab. Not going to build it until I have the bigger shop up.

Got a 6 footer on the porch. Hoping to be able to cut down the rails to fit it. if not, I can salvage the bumpers and build my on rails.
