    Blade Assembly Connection Pieces Needed

I should start off by saying that I am wife who doesn't know how to work a screwdriver half the time so please bear with me.

My father in law gave my husband a Ryobi BT3000 in pieces as a "gift" for our new house. So I am spending my summer vacation putting the thing together as a surprise for my husband. I am trying to do this by myself with the help of the internet when I get stuck. I have gotten all the way down to installing the blade guard assembly and discovered that the pieces that connect the blade guard assembly to the table saw are missing, surprise surprise. I contacted Ryobi and they don't make those pieces anymore. Just my luck.

Does anyone have these pieces laying around?

Welcome to the Forum. What a lovely idea, I hope you're properly appreciated!

The diagram below may help you to identify exactly what you need:

    1 Screw (6-19x5/16in. Pan Hd.)
    2 Washer
    3 Anti-kickback Fingers
    4 Spacer Cap
    5 Torsion Spring
    6 Push Nut
    7 Dowel Pin (.309 x 1-1/4in.)
    8 Arm
    9 Cover (clear)
    10 Dowel Pin (.309 x 1-3/4in.)
    11 Riving Knife Assembly

I've got a spare blade guard assembly stored away somewhere, so if you could identify precisely what you need, I'll dig it out and see if I've got what you need.

I think she may be needing the two bolts and shims with cover plate and nuts. At least this is what I understood. I think if someone has a parted out unit, these parts may be left over. They also may be available from Sears. My apologies for not mentioning this in your email.

Parts 2 thru 6 on this diagram.

Another good place to look online for BT parts is M&D Mower...

I think may she should look in the bottom of the saw. When you take off the guard and leave the bolts loose then they may vibrate out and fall to the bottom of the blade guard if the saw is run.

If you lack the bolts and shims, you can probably very easily make some by using some metal shears to cut up an aluminum coke can to the right size, drill some holes. You probably need 8 of these. Get a couple of standard sized bolts from the hardware store. I'm thinking offhand they are most likely 5/16-18 x 1/2" hex head bolts. I'll look it up later, but I do know they have 1/2" across the hex head flats. 1/4-20 hex head bolts have 7/16th across the flats so I'm guessing its 5/16-18 bolt.

Lee was right, you guys are helpful. Thank you!

I have looked in the bottom of the saw and every where else in the garage for anything that might possibly look like what I need with no such luck. When my father in-law delivered the table saw it was in pieces in a trash can.

I tried to order through M&D mower as well as Sears Parts Direct but since Ryobi doesn't make the "shim" (part 17) anymore I'm out of luck. I can order all the other parts but without the shim it seems pretty useless to do so.

Don't give up! Tin snips and a coke can... Then clamp the shims together between two strips of wood, and drill all the holes you need, cleanly and at one time.
