Looking for a partner to buy/swap rails

    Lemmee 'splain...

I have the new Craftsman saw and want to extend the table width with another set of rails.

Problem is that Sears doesn't sell complete rail sets for this model and they're slightly different (in looks, but they mount together OK... It's a cosmetic thing) from those on the Ryobi BT3000/3100

What I'd like to do is find someone who wants my Sears rails and will either buy them from me or send me a set of Ryobi rails. I will then purchase one or two sets of matching ryobi rails and will have a cosmetically pleasing wide-table setup.

Confused? Me too! In short, the Sears saw has rails like on the BT3100 except they have rounded fronts. I want to sell mine to buy a Ryobi set, or trade straight across for a Ryobi set. I'll then get a second set of matching Ryobi rails.

Here are a few photos of the rails on my Craftsman saw:

    Any takers?

    Cheers!

Hmmm, I can see the benefit for you, what's the benefit for your trading partner?

      Benefit

Well, beyond the all-over good feeling that comes with someone knowing they've done someone a favour, what's in it for the other person is a matching set of rails for their saw.

In other words, one of us will end up with 2 sets of Ryobi-Craftsman rails and one of us with 2 sets of Ryobi-Ryobi rails.

Or, maybe there's someone out there with a Ryobi who wants a "custom" saw and will have a sexy set of next-to-new, rounded-front, Ryobi-Craftsman rails.

Or, someone who wants an extra set of rails and doesn't care if they look the same as their Ryobi-Ryobi rails will have the opportunity to buy my (sexy, next-to-new) Ryobi-Craftsman ones cheap.

      Or, well, you get it.

You will note that I asked if anyone was interested: Their benefit/motivation is their business. In fact my exact words were "What I'd like to do is find someone who wants my Sears rails..." The "benefit, then, is getting my Sears rails. Someone who wants them. Getting them. Want/Get. Benefit.

One thing I could have added to my already long-winded post: I would be equally interested in buying a set of Craftsman rails from anyone who has the new saw and doesn't care which rails are on it: I'll either buy the Ryobi-Craftsman rails from them or buy a brand-new set of Ryobi rails to trade and ship them to their door (although that would be a cumbersome way of doing things, methinks.)

In the end, I want 2 sets of identical rails (whichever flavour) and I am looking for someone in the same boat who also wants matching rails.

      Cheers!

      Gary

Did you check Sears replacement parts for your model saw- might be the easiest solution for an extra set of rounded rails.

          Heya Dave,

Yeah, one of the first things I did when I decided on this saw was head to the service counter and ask about extra parts. For some bizarre reason, Sears can get the front rail but not the back rail.

Although this would solve my "cosmetically pleasing matching rails" problem (at least from the front of the saw) they want about the same amount for a single front rail as it would cost for a complete set of Ryobi rails, and I'd still need to buy a rear rail (which would likely mean that I'd have to buy a whole set anyway.)

          Thanks for the reply,

          Cheers!

          Gary

Would this help? Pretty rare to see a single rail for sale:

Thanks Dave, I'll look into it. The listing says that the seller will only ship to the USA but I'll ask about Canada.

              Cheers!

Hi there, and thanks for the reply. Are your reails the same as the ones on my "new" Craftsman (with the rounded fronts)? Pictures available here:

                  If so, colour them "sold!"

                  Thanks again,

                  Cheers!

                      Thanks anyway

                      Bummer.

                      Thanks for the thought, though.

                      Cheers!
