    Latest Pic of New Home

All work is mainly going on in the inside but we have had one addition to the outside. It was a surprise for my wife. She loves the Bears.

            Yup

Get the bear back to work, some of the shingles need to be trimmed.

House looks great, do we have an eta?

You were not supposed to notice the untrimmed shingles. The bear is kind of lazy, can't get much movement out of him. Gonna try a cattle prod next and see what happens. ETF (estimated time of final inspection) is December this year. Only problem is that I said that last year.

Spent the last two week ends redoing the fireplace chase. Seems there was a 6x8 header smack in the middle of the chase preventing the flue pipes from going up. Just little stuff like this tends to push the ETF. Turns out the header is there due to a statement from our building consultant. Drove me crazy until I looked on the plans and YEP! not required. I hate it when I pay an expert who tells me BS that costs time and money. Oh well, fired him last fall anyway. We have learned to only worry about what we are doing today, makes life a lot easier.

No, just bears, racoons, squirrels, eagles and gargoyles. For the right money I bet the guy could carve the Bengal Tiger.

Wouldn't we all. BTW, the house looks great. I like the colors. What about gutters?

Gutters are low on the priority list right now but eventually will get them up. We will need them as the snow melts as its like a river in several areas coming off the roof, especially on the deck at the rear and sides of the house.

We want to be in the home by this December so we are concentrating on the inspection list in order to get the occupancy certificate. Followup framing, plumbing, electrical and first insulation inspection is next week. If all is good, then startnig drywall install along with all those @#$%^ electrical outlets, switches, dimmers, and assorted other electrical stuff.

Well we had our inspection yesterday and we are now good to go with the drywall. Inspector signed off on electrical, plumbing, framing, insulation, and fireplace (installed a Fireplace Xtroidinaire Elite 36). The last difficult thing we have to do is to run the piping for the water supply from the street to the house. Nothing but granite rock between the street and the house so that's going to be a challenge, but its not the first one we have had so we'll figure it out. Lots of other work to do before that.

Being in the house by December this year looks like a real possibility now.

Many folks who live in the area of the house swear by this fireplace. It is the most effecient wood burner on the market. It will supposedly heat our whole house except may need a little furnace help on the coldest days. At least that's what I'm hearing from the folks who own them. I'll let you know my impressions during the upcoming winter (hopefullY).
