Time to get out the rake again...

Yesterday when I came home from work, my back yard was nice and green and clean. This morning at 7:00, a good half of it was yellow (maple tree). Now just a few hours later the whole thing is rapidly turning brown (oaks) as I see leaves falling like big brown snowflakes out the back window...

It's amazing how quickly it happens, and how many leaves those trees actually produce.

Looks like I'll be getting some exercise this weekend!

I'm hoping I can get to mine this week. Last week the temp was wonderful (especially for Minneapolis), but the trees were still fairly full. Last couple of days rain, snow and wind. Suppose to be clear next week. Hope they dry out. It really makes a mess when the snowblower throws them all over if I don't get them before a large enough snowfall. We'll see!!

I mulched all the leaves on my yard today with the mower. I'll give it 2 days and it will look like I did nothing. The worst thing is, the position of the house creates a vortex in front of the garage and I end up with everyone's leaves 2 ft deep by the door.

I will ride my mower around tomorrow and mulch. Gotta do it soon or there will be too many to do that.

My trees are finally looking like they've lost some leaves. I think maybe 2 more times clearing the yard will just about do it until spring. Of course there might be more left up there than I think.

I live in a town home complex and there are no trees to speak of on my road. Some how though, I always end up with a foot of leaves againts my garage door.

Nice shot, Alex. You're a lucky guy to have such good looking kids.

I have three interior doors that I need to paint. The HF HVLP sprayer does a fabulous job, but I have to do it in the open - no finishing room. I got them out Saturday and prepped them, then looked at my yard. No way I was going to spray with all those leaves blowing around. The rest of the afternoon was spent sucking up about 33 30 gallon trash bags of leaves. And that doesn't include the pine tree out front, which my riding mower couldn't handle.

By the time I was done, it was dark and my window of opportunity for painting the doors had closed. Aaarggh!

I'll try to get home a little early on Friday so I can suck all the new leaves up again and maybe I'll be able to paint this coming Saturday.
                  - Chris.

I was gonna say that of course next weekend more leaves and you won't be able to paint then, either.

IF I still had the oak tree in the back yard, I would be having to rake this weekend. A trade off I would have happily made. I miss my tree...

Last count I had 27 trees around my property, Mottly swamp maples and oak. The loml and I spent 2 1/2 hrs yesterday with leaf blowers and a tarp cleaning the yard. When I got home tonight I could have started all over again. Most of the oaks are done but a few swamp maples should be done by the end of the week. Yesterday was the third time for doing this. Once more and I should be done.

Fortunately our city does curbside vacuuming of all leaves in the fall. It also
helps that all the trees in the backyard are conifers and the only ones that drop
leaves are in the front yard next to the curb. However, most of our leaves are
                            from our neighbors.

Alex, that's one sweet little cutie ya have there. I'm partial to girls having raised two and having two g.daughters. As for the raining of the leaves, archery season is one of my favorite times in the woods. Sitting in a treestand watching and listening to them fall. I don't get many deer but I sure love to be out there taking it all in. Take care of your little dear!
                              Blessings,
