Sealing A Difficult Draft.

I need to apply some aerosol expanding foam to a draft that is about 18" behind some ductwork. Has anyone ever extended the nozzle on a can of spay with clear flexable tubing? I'm hoping to attach the tubing to some dowel to control the spray. Thanks.

Yes, it will work, as the foam won't set up until it hits the air, but you will have to throw out the tubing afterward, so don't just borrow some off something else...

The long hose on the can of spray foam will work, kinda. When you get much longer than the hose provided it tends to blow out of the valve nozzle hole, causing a large mess. It does not ever seem to stop coming out. You then find out why they come with rubber gloves. When I have to add hose to a can of this stuff I use a larger diameter hose that will slip over the existing hose, and duct tape the factory hose into the valve nozzle, then operate the can inside a plastic bag. This stuff makes an awful mess and will not come out of carpet and fabric.

Well, I gave it a shot. I took about 18" of 1/4 inch, clear airline tubing, taped it to a length of stiff wire, fed the tubing over the nozzle and taped it up. I made a bit of a mess only because I really couldn't see 100% where I was spraying but it did work. The only problem I had with leakage was when I twisted the nozzle from the can.
