I had one of the springs on my garage break yesterday. I called out a local service and it was fixed within 2 hrs. Price was $185 all done including a lifetime guarantee on the springs. At least for me it was $185 well spent, gargae fixed quickly, no dirt and grime and hassle for me and they will replace for free if they go again.

Best bet here....leave it to the pros! You want run the risk of getting hurt
or doing permanent damage to yourself, if you let them do it! eezlock

Does that guarantee include labor? If so, that's a real deal. The springs are only good for so many times opening and closing the door.

I've done it twice, but my neighbor is the guy who took all the chances. I wouldn't do it by myself if it was a torsion spring. If not a torsion spring, it's much safer, and I'd do that.
