Just wanted to share this bit of information, for what it's worth.
I have never been a real big fan of the box stores, but I'll admit that I do buy there because of the lower prices. I like to think that I have enough experience to know value along with price.
Anyway, I am in need of a 26" wide HC int door. Why 26" I do not know. It does not appear to be cut down. It is on a claoset and it has a hole through the skin on the inside.
So, I checked at the blue box and that size is not stocked, no surprise there as 26" is not very popular. Called them yesterday and was quoted $34 for lauan and $45 for oak. Their regular 24" is $17 so the quoted price seemed high. Then I called the yard and was quoted $22.50 for the same lauan 26" special order door. Ya just gotta shop around!
BTW, I also got a chuckle this afternoon at Sears. There is a Sears hardware store nearby and I went there looking for some corner brraces. Wandering around I notice they are into lumber, although in a very small scale. They had a few 2x4x8 studs in a rack that was marked $9.49 each. And it wasn't even a good clear piece of wood. It had sapwood in the center almost the whole length. Amazing!!
