I will second that Zircon stud finder, it’s the third stud finder I have bought and the first that actually works and for normal drywall is pretty accurate. I use it to find a stud, then I check it with a small finish nail to make sure theirs really a stud there then measure and mark every 16” then I do a quick check with the stud finder and it is accurate enough I can find the center of the stud by approach my 16” mark from both left and from right. Works great.
