    Hello from Texas

Hi, I am new here and to woodworking. I have purchased (everything off of craigslist) Delta Table Saw, Delta Planer, Makita Miter Saw and a bandsaw that I cant identify 14". Picking up a router and table today as well and am currently looking for a jointer. I have been doing a lot of reading of magazines, reading forums, watching woodworks (David Marks) and the New Yankee Workshop for quite some time now. I have to get my shop wired correctly before I begin but I hope to have a good time and I hope to learn from yall as well as be inspired.

I hope that I put this post in the right place, I didnt see an introduction area.

    Mike

Yes, welcome to the frendliest woodowrking forum on the web. What part of Texas do you live in? I'm in Abilene, some others are from south TX, I don't think anyone is here from far west or the panhandle, but don't quote me on that.

I am just (and I mean just) outside of the city limits of Houston in Harris County.

I am interested in rustic furniture, jewlery boxes, all kinds of boxes and tables. I have a thing for reddish wood. I really like contrasting pieces too. I will probably read yalls post for a while before I start asking questions. I do belong to other woodworking forums (found them this week) too. I found this one by accident. I was looking up Potassium Dichromate when I stumbled onto this forum.

Hi Mike, sounds like you are set up and ready to go. I'm in Midland (from Ft.Worth). Besides the folks you met I think there are 1 or 2 in Lubbock, lots in the Metroplex, Central TX, and down by Houston. Where are you? Like others said, this is a very friendly place, if you have a problem with a tool or project, there will be somebody here that will be able to help.

What area are you in? There are a few members here from the H town area.... At least Loring Chien (lchien) and myself. I think there are at least two more if I recall right...

From your user ID, do you DJ? If so, you know me...
