    Router speeds

I'm sure alot of this comes with experience. But for someone just starting out with a router, how do you know what speeds for what type of material? Any good rules of thumb?

Generally, the smaller the bit, the faster the speed. For instance, I run spiral bits at full speed and panel bits around 10-12K.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
