I used phonelic on the face of a fence for my mortiser and for the faces on a Euro short fence for my BT 3000. Very hard (tough to cut I may add) and won't warp.

I will building another Euro fence in a few days for the factory reco Uni-saw I picked up yesterday. And it was intended to be phonelic also. But I am in the same boat as Tom... in other words, what's star board?

I will be watching to see if anyone can idenify it. If it's better than phonelic I would consider it by all means.

        Regards...

googling starboard it appears to be a trademarked name for wood substitute plastic material.

"Unleash your creativity with a material as
bold and limitless as your imagination: the
King StarBoard® family of polymer sheet products.
Virtually anything you can make with wood—
plus a few things you can’t—can be made with King
StarBoard. King StarBoard sheets are environmentally
stabilized, easy to fabricate with standard
woodworking tools and feature a rich matte finish.
It’s a perfect choice for any outdoor or wet
          application, including cabinetry, outdoor kitchens,
tables, chairs, planters, shelving and custom
          creations for one-of-a-kind homes."

          Not cheap. 12 x 27 x 1/2 board costs $37 from a marine supply store. That's a little over
          1 bd-ft.
