Basic Help with Plywood

MDF and MDO are nothing alike I take it? Some reason I assumed they were, probably the letters.

So stay away from MDF then? and MDO, thats comparable in price right? I am going to get on the phone right now and start calling around to find a local lumberyard.

That's right -- two different beasts entirely, although the surfaces look a lot alike, and are both very smooth.

Not sure how to characterize the price comparison -- not sure exactly what you're comparing it to. You won't think it's cheap, though.

I just got off the phone with 4 lumberyards in the area and none of them have MDO.

If it is expensive I can't use it anyways, price is a huge concern for me as I hopefully plan on selling these.

Any other thoughts on what I could use? I am going to go down to the lumber yard tomorrow to check out what they got.

Everyone here is against using MDF then? like I said I have some smaller pieces .7 inches in size and I assumed MDF qould crumble apart...although I have never cut or used it.

Check your yellow pages for plywood or cabinet shop supplies. You might call a few cabinet shops to see if they can help you. They might be as friendly as me.

That's really hard to believe! They should be able to order it easily enough. This isn't rare stuff by any means.

Those are cabinet shops and they are the largest lumber dealers in the area. I spoke with HD(they didnt have any either) as well to see if there guys in the lumber department would know of anything locally and they gave me the same names and numbers of the main lumber yards that I had already called.

It was weird, they seemed to not even have heard of the stuff, 2 guys I had to describe what it is(ply with a resin coating). ???

I don't know.

Could you guys tell me how much the stuff costs typically, because it is all for not if it is too expensive. I appreciate the suggestions and feedback but like I said a few times now money is the largest factor for me.
