Must be nice to be an EE with a Master's degree at the age of 13 (Honestly, that's what your profile says). Took me until I was 23 to get my Master's in EE.
Although it explains why he didn't go right for the car solution....
Well, I pulled all of the crap off the pile and checked it out...
It's not as bad as I had thought it might be. There are a few small gaps around the edges, but they are all smaller than 1/16", and few and far between. I trimmed the edges up on my BT3k (I think I may have broken a few rules).
I then set it on the cabinet where I will mount it eventually and started checking the surface for flatnes with a square. The first side I checked was disappointing (big surprise). When I flipped it over and checked the other side, it was nearly COMPLETELY flat. I couldn't find any gaps even as big as 1/32". I think I got really lucky.
Once I put some laminate on both faces and sand it down a tad, I think I stand a good chance of getting a great surface...
What a good story. I enjoyed that this cold, cold winter morning as I drink my cup of hot black coffee preparing to spend many hours out in my shop today having fun. Just a thought. I joined two plys together for my router top and used somebody's suggestion on this forum about screwing them together. It worked fine. Lucky too cause I didn't have 200 lbs of food.
May you die and go to heaven before the Devil knows you're dead. My Best, Mac
