Craftsman same as BT3100?

I have a Craftsman saw (don't know model #) that looks to be an exact match to the BT3100. Is it the same saw? I have had this saw for about 5 years now. I was looking at upgrading to a new saw with a Jointech Saw Train system.

I just have not had good luck with this saw. I could never get the fence to be very accurate and it seemed to be a bit lacking in power. I am by no means an expert but an old roommate at the time who was a bit more experinced had the same problems.

I see Jointech has the Saw Train for the BT3100. I think this would fix the accuracy, but what about the power? Any advice would help.

I believe it is a rebadged BT3000. The Ryobi BT3000 had straight legs but the craftsman had splayed legs. I just sold mine so I can't verify the model but I believe it is 22811.

As far as accuracy goes, my rip fence was very accurate and the sliding table works great once you set it up and align it. There is some good information on aligning this saw on this site.

As far as power goes, well that depends on what your trying to cut and the blades your using.

It is the same saw with the Crapsman name on it. The accessories are interchangable.

I think you have the Sears model 22811 (315.228110)
The Jointech sawtrain will double your investment. There is a review here but I think few people have actually installed it due partly to the expense and partly because the BT3 fence has been pretty good.

Most people here have had good luck tuning their saws.
You might try looking at the BT3 FAQ. It's linked to in the first post under "Getting Started" forum topic here at BT3central.

There is a FAQ (freq asked questions) answer to the sears/BT3 saw question (differences and compatibility) and power issues and fence accuracy/tuning. Any other questions seem to get good responses here, usually if you are somehwat specific questions the results are better than too specific or too general..
