which belt & disk sander?

I'm looking at belt/disk sanders. Anyone have the Delta SA446 (see below)? Any good or bad experience you can share? Have you found it useful? Any comments on the Ryobi version?

I have the Ryobi BD4600, it gets a lot of use and I am very happy with it.

I have an older Delta that has served me well but a lot of people have the BD4600 and I haven't seen any complaints/problems discussed.

Getting the BD4600 for xmas myself. I saw the Delta in stores, and it didn't seem to be the same level of quality as the BD.

What about the Rigid model? Model EB4424 at Home Depot, has anyone tried this? It is twice the cost of the two models being discussed, but I am curious if anyone thinks it is worth the extra cash.

Lee, several of us have the Ridgid EB4424, myself included, but it's really a different colored horse ... it's an oscillating belt and spindle sander, which is rather different from a belt/disc sander. I am well pleased with the machine and consider it fairly priced, but one day I'm going to have a 12" disc sander sitting in my shop, too.

As with any tool purchase, it all depends on what functions you need, and on the type of projects you do.

we have that delta in my work shop at school and i dont like it i would go with the ryobi one!!

Yesterday was my 9th anniversary, and SWMBO had the BD4600 waiting for me in the living room. I almost wonder if I should've gotten the Ryobi 10" CMS instead of the $200 Rigid CMS/nailer combo deal to go along with it.

I have the Delta and am extremely pleased with it. I've had it for about 1 1/2 years now and used it quite a bit. No problems that I've found. The dust catching is excellent but that could be my HF DC not so much the tool itself although I can't say - no dust around so one or both are doing their jobs. Now I will say it's a bit noisy but aren't all of them? That belt just seems to make noise but any I've heard aren't any better.
