Lacquer thinner works great but wear gloves and a respirator when using it. You need a well ventilated area.

The "gunk" varies a bit from brand to brand, but I've had success with mineral spirits, kerosene, WD-40, and Simple Green....oh, and a whole lotta towels!

I've seen the cautions against using *anything* in the shop that contains silicons due to it's great ability at contaminating wood. I was curious about WD-40 and after briefly checking, it appears it contains none and is safe. In regards to contaminating wood, would any of the previously mentioned substances be safer to use than some of the others?

I need to remove both items from different products. Sounds like the oily material is covered by other posts. Now I need to remove wax. Also, what material should I put back over the cast iron table? Are the wax type items that go on the table generally sold at HD, Lowes or HF?

and got it about 80% put together late Saturday night.
What do you think of the fence? Looks awesome but store models have a hard time holding. I have attached rails and put fence together but I have not level wings and tightened rails. However I had to give the fence a try and it seemed like it had a hard time staying in place. I have not looked very far into it though. Any tips needed on final assembly of this product? Some of those frame and screws and dust cover screws were a tough reach for me!
