    An introduction...

    Hi,

I'm a brand new member of the forum and a BT3000 owner of about 6 years. This looks like a place I will be spending a lot of time IF I don't wear you folks out.

Since buying my 3000 around '99, it probably hasn't seen more than one hour's use. Why? Back in the late 90's I was making lots of disposible income and started buying up all kinds of tools. I have a little bit of experience around a shop but just haven't have time to play with my toys!

I am renovating a building built around the late 1800's and figured it's time to start using all the stuff I bought. I've read through the years the slam received by non BT3000 owners but I've always thought that no matter what a person buys, there will be good things and bad things. I believe one should learn about the bad things and just learn to either make them work for you or work around them.

So....having said all that, I'll be looking to you folks as my mentors.

    First question:

Not long after I bought my saw, I broke the little ears on the back end of the rip fence. I repaired them with epoxy. Is there a stronger, more suitable replacement available today for this saw?

    Thanks a million,

    Earl

    Hi, Earl - welcome!

I've put up an on-line manual and the rip fence diagram is to be found just below this link (you might want to hit "refresh" or "Reload" to make sure the pages are all there - it's a big site!). Hope you may be able to identify the repaired part and replace it.

    Ray.

Welcome Earl! If the tabs on the back are holding OK after gluing, I wouldn't worry about it. I purchased a couple of rear blocks cause I broke two over three years by dropping them.

Post some picts of your renovation work.

Welcome to the cult, Earl. I do construction type work and am currently spending time on an old house I am redoing. You will find that the BT3 is up to the task.

                        Hi Earl
My saw has been mostly used for construction/renovations and it has handled everything I've thrown at it. At present I'm disassembly it and moving it from the car port to the second floor in preparation for my winters work.
It will do just fine for you.

Wow! Thanks to all for the hearty welcome.!!!!

I'm renovating the building to move my recording studio into. I'm going to use my BT3000 (and router) to try and make some millwork on the cheap.

Here's a pic of the building showing what I've done on the outside. The little "porch cover" will be replaced and since this pic was taken, the right door has been painted to match the door on the left . Also, I need to put up trim around the big windows. The trim paint will match the door.
