    Dado blades

    Hello good people -
I wasn't sure which forum to post this on. I have a friend whose father left him an old - but never used - set of Craftsman dado blades. They are six inches and fit a half inch arbor. He doesn't woodwork so he asked me if they would be of any use to anybody. I told him "I don't know but I know where to go to find out!" Are there any saws out there with half inch arbors? Do these blades have EBay potential? Or are they great doorstops?
    When in doubt, dress up.

It would be unusual today to find saws that have 1/2" arbors anymore, although I think at one time some did.

The older woodworking tools were also seldom made with carbide tips.
Ergo I imagine that the set you have would be of little value to a
    contemporary woodworker.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

If they're very old, there's a good chance that they're just steel blades to boot and not carbide tipped.
