    Wall unit for big TV.

Hi all, it's been awhile since I was here, non the less we've been busy.
We upgraded our TV from a 52" to a 64"...we had to fit it on a 10
foot wall. We also needed it to match the existing cabinet that the tv
sits on as well as the DVD cabinet on the left. Both the DVD and the
base cabinet we made around 2007.

I toyed with titling this thread, " You don't need a Fireplace to have
    a mantle! "

First we made the bookcase on the right, the size is 19"w x 37" tall x 9" deep.
    The old DVD cabinet is 20" w x 29" tall x 7 1/2" deep.
The mantle is 9 3/4 deep.
The little stand on top of the tv cabinet is 6" high and about 24" long
and 10 inches deep. the inside is hollow so that we can store the
    3-d glasses and keyboard etc...

Hope you like it and think it's a good solution to making a big modern TV
fit into a not so modern room.

I'll be back with the pic's, I need to refresh my memory on how to do this.

The tv is ahout 6' out from the wall.
The fireplace has mirrors on each side --that's why you see
everything twice from the end views.

Joann - looks great! The molding treatment on the mantle gives nice continuity between the adjacent cabinets.

Thanks Bill and Mark, there were so many look sees and no comments,
I thought that perhaps this must be really ugly.
Glad that two at least two people like it, and I'm glad to be back.

Mark, are you the Mark that helped me sign back on? Is so,
                        thanks a heap.

Great idea, a TV with a mantle! Looks like it's been there forever, nicely blended into the room.

Joann, that looks really nice. I like purpose-built items like these. What's really impressive is that you were able to match the finish of the new items to that shelf you made over 6 years ago.

My flat screen has intake vents at the top. They get clogged with dusty fairly easily. Maybe that mantle shelf will help with that.
