    Return of Fun with Firewood

It was a nice day and with the sun shining I brought the lathe outside to have some more fun with firewood.

This firewood was spalted maple I came across at the splitter. Very hard, very dry. Had to make more than one trip to the sharpener to get this done.

    Very good!
Did you attach to a faceplate on the lathe?

Funny you should ask. I was trying for a live edge bowl but the outside of the wood was so punky that the screws didn't hold the blank to the face plate. I was just about to throw it back in the burn pile when I decided to try turning it on centers. That ended up working well enough for me to form the shape and turn a foot for the 4 jaw chuck to grab on to.

Thanks for the kind words folks.

I see the quarter for size comparison, is it about the volume of a shot glass ? If so, a couple of shots with that and you can make a whole set!
