    Media center cabinet completed

Thanks to all who contributed to my previous thread on this project.

This was a Christmas present for my brother. I didn't quite make it, it took a couple extra late nights after Christmas. I learned quite a bit while doing this project. It is my 2nd attempt at "fine furniture". I used Walnut and went all the way from rough sawn to finished product. I used stopped dados on the sides and top. The drawer is a false front with poplar case and hand cut dovetails. It's hard to tell, but the top shelf is adjustable and there is a bottom baseboard that is inset 1/8". The finish is Watco medium walnut.

I'm really happy with the way it came out although it took much more time and effort then i ever thought it would.

The pictures aren't the best, but the delivery man(my dad) was in a rush to leave. The 2nd pic is probably closet to the true color.

Looks great! How did the fit of the drawer come out?

Looks good...well done. Hand made makes for a great gift. Did you sign and date it on the bottom. The drawer looks like it was a close fit in height.

The fit of the drawer came out pretty good. It is able to hold movies on edge which is what i was shooting for. I made the case a little too narrow so had to shim the slides a tiny bit. The drawer front has a gap of just over a the thickness of a nickel all the way around. the case has clearance of about an inch at the top, an 1/8" at the bottom.

I did not think to sign and date it, that is a good idea. I can probably remedy that when I next visit.

That is fine furniture! Stopped dado and dovetails !?! That's making a statement!

I have not used walnut yet, but I always thought it'd look like the second picture. Really looks 'rich'! Well done!
