    Bandsaw box

I haven't posted much in this thread lately, but not for a shortage of projects (especially for my young'uns), but this one was fun, and the wood was nice.

On an anniversary trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, I purchased a couple pieces of local wood to play with when I got home.

I decided to turn the koa into a bandsaw box for LOML for our anniversary this year. Had to stretch the koa with some maple to get the desired depth. The base is also koa. The off-cuts may become pens...

Any guesses on what the knobs are? Thanks for looking.

That's beyond cool. Very well done indeed. My guess is that the knobs could be Maple.

                  Very nice.

I'm guessing some sort of tooth, or bone, for the pulls.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I couldn't find a pull (at that time) small enough for the dimensions of the box; I was looking at small coat pegs, but those seemed too large as well. I toyed with the idea of turning my own pulls - but in the "kits" section, these ready-made answers were staring me in the face.

Mike, I believe they are maple - they are the axle pins from Pinewood Derby car kits, with a portion of the axle shaft cut off.
