    Shoe Shine Boxes

My oldest son sent me a link to the art of manliness web site and asked if i might be able to build him one: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/06/18...hoe-shine-box: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/06/18...hoe-shine-box/

I put him off a bit, and decided i'd give it a try for Christmas for both sons (second is in the USAF, so shine is good). Did a little adaptation and milled some cherry as my wood choice with poplar dowels. Got them pretty much done last weekend. Now on to something for my first grandson...due in February!!

Very nice. I'm sure both boys will love them.

I looked at the plans in the link. Your's look a lot better than his do!

The curves and round overs combineds with the Cherry make a world of difference.

Thanks Don. Depending on the angle, it strikes me as either barn or cathederal. A little finish goes a long way.

Those have to be the nicest shoe shine boxes I've seen. Nice work...well done. BTW, when I was in the Army, we shined shoes and boots with them in our lap. Times sure have changed.

It's a small pic, but they look like JB's to me.

I thought you had to shine them on your lap so you wouldn't have to spit so far when spit-shinning boots. Ah, the good (?) old days.

                  Regards, Steve.

Spit...no way, a last resort. If there was water nearby, a small amount in the lid of the can. Better yet if there was some isopropyl alcohol nearby...
