    Birthday gift for Mom

Something I put together over a couple of days. Pretty much did this off the cuff, just saw something I liked and made it up as I went. It's a quilt ladder, a bit different than the usual stuff. Nothing fancy at all. M&T, no mechanical fasteners. Did the little hooks at the top after it was assembled. Got to use my spindle sander for the first time in forever.

Very nice for no planning! What wood did you use?
I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

Looks good, has a nice "shaker" feel to it.

The legs are some 4/4 wormy maple left over from the table project, the steps are some 8/4 soft maple that I've had around here for the better part of a year. Free project, as it were.

Did a 10º cut on the bottom of the legs, and cut the mortises for the steps to match.

Oh no! I thought you all were talking about the quilts. But they are nice too.

Seriously though, nice, efficient and simple. Very nice. Question: are the 'steps' rounded off, at least on their upper edges?

              Regards, Steve.

Knocked them down with the sander. Just enough where it wouldn't damage the material, but there's still enough where it will help keep it from slipping off.

That's nice... We don't have the quilt thing going on here, yet... But LOML has started showing an interest in quilting... Might have to build one of those...

Very nice, I'm sure your mom will fill it up in no time. Actually, my wife is a big quilter so I know that quilts take a huge amount of time to make along with vast amounts of talent and patience. Good on both of you.

Now all she needs is a matching Leaning Shelf--there goes the price of the "free project"!!!

Nice work, and a great idea!!

Looks great! Any quilter would be happy with one of those!
