Hi guys,
I actually remembered to take pictures throughout the project life this time. It is a headboard -- it is the first project I've built with the intent of painting it. Designing to paint it a different experience. You've got some leeway in the types of wood you can use, but I'd argue that the prep work is a lot more intense on a painted project in order to get a smooth finish, and any "oops" are a lot more obvious.
It is built out of sandply, fence posts, and various clearance moldings. The hardware came off of an armoire I found at the thrift store. Cost of the bed was about $80 for the wood, and another $100 for the finishing supplies and hardware. The bed was primed, painted with 3 coats, highlighted with some gold detailing, and finished with 3 coats of General Finishes water-based polycrillic.
Thanks for looking,
