    Omas recipe box refinished...

This is a simple oak recipe box that my dad made for my grandmother back in 1965. The original hinges and finish went the way of the dodo bird... I stripped it down, cleaned it up and hit it with 2 coats of Minwax Golden Pecan stain, followed by 2 coats of Minwax wipe on poly. The hinges are Schlage mini hinges, and the mounting screws were abbreviated with my grinder...

Nice to revive a family treasure.

There is one small burn mark, that I managed to accidentally put on it when I was little, that I intentionally left on the top... I tried to keep the "character" while preserving it as best I could... I haven't shown my Dad yet... Hope he likes it...
