Here is Hendrix - Born Sept. 30th.

Here is his crib - Finished Sept. 25th...

It is made of Quilted Rock Maple and Cherry, finished with 3 coats of shellac.
I might actually refinish it in the spring, the finish is not as smooth as I had hoped, but it is "finished" for now.
This is when we first set it up to make sure the mattress was going to fit. I will post some better pics once it is in it's final resting place.

Thanks all. It took about 30 hours to make, there were 64 mortises just for the slats, then 3 on each leg, with corresponding tenons. It all started out as rough lumber. This was my largest and my most important project to date. I used my BT3K for all of the crosscuts, dados, tenons and roundovers with a molding head.

Did you say molding head on BT3? I never dared to put such a monster on mine. BT is supposed to be underpowered saw and molding head is a big cutter. Also all the molding heads I saw were 8" and on a BT3 even dado is supposed to be 6" only. I know that 8" dado kind of works but molodng head always seemed pushing it too fart to me.
How did it work? Any issues you encountered?

Whoever said it was underpowered has either starved it for power or not set it up right, just to defend the saw for a second.

I used the craftsman 3 cutter molding head with I believe is 7 inch. It worked fine, I had a little burning in some hard maple, but I blame that on maybe a slightly dull cutter, and the fact that it was hard maple.

No other real issues, when you figure that I ran hundreds of feet worth of molding through it pretty much non-stop, and the saw did not even break a sweat, those were pretty good results in my opinion.

I did have my saw setup correctly, and I only run a 10/3 ext. cord. The total run from the circuit breaker including the extension cord is less than 100 ft. We tend to starve our tools for power, but my workshop power scheme was designed not to do that.
