    Finally finished something.

Well, after a couple of deployments, a tour in Germany and two moves, I was able to finally set up shop, start building and actually finish something besides a shelf. My daughter wanted a doll sized bunk bed for her American Girl dolls, so I built this. I got the plans from a doll furniture book and it is made out of poplar and birch ply. It didn't take too long to put together, but since it was a Christmas present for her, I had to be sneaky about it so I could only work a couple hours a day. Painting it was a challenge, since it is too cold out in the shop to paint, I had to bring it in and paint it while she wasn't home and then hide it to dry overnight. All in all, I am very happy with how it turned out.

Well done, especially with everything going on to get in the way. Keep making dust whenever you can. You turned out a great project there.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

Very nice, Dave. We have a few little girls in the family who would love to have it.

Good work! Nothing beats the feeling you get from building something for your kids...

Looks great. Completing is more fun than starting. This will be one of those heirloom pieces she will always keep.

Betting the smile on her face Christmas morning was awsome.

Ths smile was worth every minute put into it and then some. Now both her and her little sister have the book of plans out and have given me a list. Now I am getting a honeydo list along with a daddydo list. This time, they will get to help out a bit in the shop, so we all win.

                Thanks for all the comments.

That is absolutely beautiful. The gifts from Christmas that I remember most are the ones made in various family shops, like the wooden Bi-plane my dad gave me when I was 6.... Hopefully this will be one of those things she will fondly look back on decades down the road!

Very nice job and I got a big chuckle with the "daddy-do" list which I have never heard used before. Then again... I don't get out much! Seems to be a pretty big demand for the American Doll stuff?

                      Sarge,

I actually just came up with the "daddy-do" list on the fly. Not saying I coined it, but it was the first time I've ever heard it. Maybe it will be the next big thing, and when I am rich and famous for it, I will not remember all the people at BT3 Central who helped make it happen.
