    Finished product - Christmas display

Well... it isn't exactly a woodworking project... though there was woodworking involved. I just got finished painting my last character and put my Christmas display up this weekend. Each character is made out of Coroplast (corogated plastic) and affixed to a frame made out of 2 x 2 treated lumber (thus the wood working aspect). Some of the characters are animated using wireframe reindeer motors and the others are animated using windshield wiper motors.

My two little girls helped me do some painting on the characters... and my wife helped me put everything up in the front yard... so it was a family project. It took a whole lot of time... but it is a WHOLE lot of fun!

Here is a link to see the display in "action". To give you an idea of the size... the last picture shows my 5 year old standing next to one of the backdrop pieces.

      Looks good...

No time or budget to get it in this year, but I am planning on borrowing a projector to project the image to be traced, then cut out and painted...

A now moved on neighbor of mine used to have this in his front yard every year, and I loved it... Santa Claus kneeling at the manger...

Excellent jaywood... this kind of thing was common when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's but I see fewer and fewer of it anymore. I got a chuckle out of the pics as my wife got one of those e-mail thingy's that get sent around recently. A family home lit up with a very elaborate display of lights and things as you have.

Then a shot of the neighbors house in the dark with a car on concrete blocks in the drive-way.. trash strew around etc. But... a single strand of Xmas lights that spelled out... DITTO with an arrow pointing to the neighbors house with the elaborate set-up.. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Regards to you and yours and that young lady in the last picture is adorable. I would ask for a shotgun from Santa now as the boys will be showing up at your door in just a short few years. Trust me!

                Merry Xmas...
