outdoor pizza prep table/ kitchen island.

Long time lurker,
first time poster.

I thought I'd share this outdoor kitchen island I built to accompany my pizza oven.
i built this outdoor pizza prep/serving table from remnant materials. Its
rolls on four locking casters. The countertop is 1.5 inch concrete cast
upside down and reinforced with rebar.(remnants of the oven build)

Weight of the concrete countertop slab is just shy of 120 pounds. Weight of
the entire rolling table is shy of 200.

All materials are recycled,repurposed, remnant or scrap.
The two collapable wing extensions are resawn oak from pallets.
Finished with a simple 1/2 roundover.
The drawers ride on full extension glides salvaged from a retired office desk.
The entire project was an experiment in conservation/green building.

Estimated cost is under 20 dollars. I just need to decide on a stain/finish
and then make some more pizzas to celebrate.

My goal was to create a large work surface to take the entire pizza making process (and associated mess) out of the kitchen.

12.19 square feet of counter-top work area
7920 cubic inches of storage.

Now that's called skill : create a classic like that, use recycled material to boot, and end up with a Pizza table for heaven's sake! You should have block parties : the kids must think you are god !

Did you laminate the legs and the stretchers for thickness?

And I see the much larger pizza oven in your yard. So are you a professional chef or something ?

Excellent job. I would definitely get some outdoor finish on that piece for sure as the weather will take a toll. Love your pizza oven also..

Wow, that is nice. I can see the design being modified slightly for a nice planner table. Like Pappy, I never would have guessed what that top was made of.

That's some cool setup. Nice work on the table. Removable wings are a good idea. What did you do to the concrete surface?

the concrete was made from a mix of 3 parts sand, 1 part cement.
color dye was added to this so the color is all the way through.
the surface is just finished with a wax.

i'd encourage anyone to try casting concrete countertops. its easy, low cost and fun.
as wood workers you have everything necessary to fabricating the molds for casting.
