    Wedding presents

As I noted in the "Coffee Pot", I recently celebrated my daughter's wedding. I decided to make presents for the bride and groom, also for the groom's parents and siblings.

I thought the happy couple should have the time of their lives, so I made an Arts and Craft-style clock for the newlyweds...

For the new inlaws, I turned a pair of pens for the parents, and turned some bottle stoppers for the groom's brothers and sister. The turnings were all completed within 1 hour before I left for the airport! The clock is made of red oak, the pens from colored acrylic, and the stoppers from blackwood, rosewood and bocote.

Nice work, Jeff. I've been thinking about buying a lathe and after seeing what you've done, I probably will (not that I could ever approach your skill). The clock is really nice - a very unique design. I think everyone involved will appreciate your gifts.

Absolutely love the simple desing of that clock, Germdoc. I love the way you handled the base.. top and clock base with the angled pieces. Nice work which translates simple to simply beautiful without excessive ornamentation.

                  Well done..
