You did an excellent job, Jeff. She should be proud and especially since she knows that Sundance was charging $1800 and then shipping. I'm guessing between $150-$250 in the maple (on the store bought one in the link) depending on lumber cost in your area. I was kind of "sticker shocked" when I saw the $1800 plus as I don't view furniture for sale often.
Maybe I should consider a side business from the prices I see quoted. I have the equipment and clamps to do about two a week for half that price and would ebonize the outer and dye the inner instead of paint. I think you were very wise to build in lieu of let her purchase. She probably thinks about the same if my guessing is good.
Again... excellent work and you and she should be proud. When did you say that crib would be ready?
